GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Stuyvesant Plaza, the Capital Region’s premier open-air retail destination, today announced the impending arrival of the newest locally owned and operated small business: Apple Barrel Home + Pantré. Scheduled to pop up within the Plaza starting mid-summer, the newcomer is a fresh concept inspired by Apple Barrel Store + Café, the award-winning gift shop and eatery in Schoharie.

Similar to its namesake, Apple Barrel Home + Pantré will offer signature pantry provisions, alongside a variety of kitchen and dining accessories and home decor. The Stuyvesant Plaza shop will also feature Apple Barrel Café to Go, a curated selection of items from the acclaimed café including soups, sauces and handcrafted, pre-made meals.

“We are thrilled to welcome Apple Barrel Home + Pantré to Stuyvesant Plaza this summer,” said Stuyvesant Plaza General Manager Rachel Ferluge. “Apple Barrel is a beloved destination that draws guests from far beyond its flagship location in Schoharie, and we look forward to hosting the next iteration of this popular local business to further supplement our diverse selection of retailers and restaurants.”

Established as a farm stand in the aftermath of World War II, Apple Barrel was initially a retail outpost for neighboring orchards in Schoharie. The Loden family assumed ownership in 1983, guiding the business through multiple expansions and redevelopments. The renowned specialty retail destination currently attracts 70,000 annual visitors.

“We are extremely excited to announce our brand-new venture, Apple Barrel Home + Pantré, coming to Stuyvesant Plaza,” said Apple Barrel Group, LLC Chief Operating Officer Joshua Loden-Bray. “With 80% of our clientele hailing from beyond Schoharie County—particularly from Albany, Saratoga Springs and Schenectady—expanding our business was a logical step. Additionally, Stuyvesant Plaza is an iconic fixture in Albany; it naturally attracts many of our patrons, making it a prime destination for us.”

Apple Barrel Home + Pantré will host a series of plant/craft + sip classes, as well as experiences distinctive to the new brand. Loden-Bray is also working with European importers to bring in luxury food and kitchen products, and working with local artisans on collaborative collections.

“By stepping into Apple Barrel Home + Pantré, visitors will be whisked away to the idyllic landscapes of the European countryside, immersing themselves in an atmosphere of rustic charm and timeless elegance,” said Loden-Bray.

Apple Barrel Home + Pantré will be located between BARE Blends and The Book House, on the north side of the Plaza.
