The Pottery Place is a do-it-yourself art studio (locally & family owned & operated) where customers can paint their own pottery. Located in Stuyvesant Plaza, Albany, NY, we welcome walk-in customers and host parties and classes for children and adults. This job is perfect for anyone who is a fast learner, creative problem solver, is a self-starter, and loves working in a fast-paced creative environment with children and families. If you are friendly, good at anticipating the needs of others, and have good time management skills, this job might be for you!

Job Requirements: This is first and foremost a customer service and retail job. Retail sales or restaurant serving experience is helpful. An art background is also helpful but not necessary. This position requires and includes the following:

  • Interacting with Customers on a daily basis
  • Learning all the products and programs offered at the studio.
  • Marketing and selling classes and programs offered at the studio
  • Assisting customers with questions, purchases and reservations
  • Greeting, instructing, and checking out customers
  • Running parties, events, and classes for both children and adults
  • Organizing, stocking supplies, keeping the studio clean.
  • Doing inventory and stocking
  • Basic cleaning tasks including washing dishes, sweeping, mopping and dusting
  • Communicating with many different personality types
  • Working independently or in a small team

All applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be punctual, dependable and have reliable transportation
  • Be self-motivated, a good multi-tasker, and able to handle a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
  • Like working with your hands and pay extreme attention to detail.
  • Have a warm, engaging, and positive personality.
  • Be comfortable talking to strangers and to large groups of adults and children.
  • Enjoy working with adults and children.
  • Be professional, hard working and proactive. Always go above and beyond with service and team work.
  • Have an appreciation for art and the abilities of all ages; be encouraging.
  • Be capable of lifting a minimum of 30lbs and capable of standing/walking for an 8+ hour shift without difficulty.
  • Be ok with ladders.
  • Be able to work flexible hours that include AFTERNOONS, EVENINGS and WEEKENDS both SATURDAY and SUNDAY a must!
  • Be available year-round and over major school breaks (Winter break, Spring Break, Summer)
